In response to the ongoing air quality issues in the National Capital Region (NCR), authorities in Noida, Greater Noida, and Gurugram have authorized schools to maintain a hybrid format for classes for students up to Class 5. This measure is intended to protect the health of young children while ensuring educational continuity.
Gurugram
Following instructions from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM), the Deputy Commissioner of Gurugram has announced that all schools in the district will implement a hybrid learning model for students up to Class 5, facilitating both online and offline classes.
This initiative comes in the wake of the enforcement of Stage 3 protocols under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), which was activated due to the deteriorating air quality in the Delhi-NCR area. The decision was influenced by recent reports indicating “Very Poor” air quality levels throughout Gurugram.
“In light of the declining air quality and in accordance with the directives from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) under Stage-III (Severe Air Quality), classes for students up to Class V in all schools within Gurugram district will now be held in Hybrid Mode — both Offline and Online (wherever feasible),” stated the announcement on X.
Noida, Greater Noida
Amid increasing criticism from parents regarding the inadequate response to the deteriorating air quality, Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate Medha Roopam has instructed all schools in Noida and Greater Noida to transition to hybrid learning for students up to Class 5. This decision aligns with the recent directive from the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) for schools in the NCR, requiring that classes be conducted through a mix of online and offline formats until further notice, as confirmed by officials.
Previously, the Delhi government had mandated schools to conduct classes in hybrid mode for students up to Class 5, providing parents with the option to switch to online learning, in light of the worsening air quality in the national capital.
This action follows the Centre’s implementation of Stage III restrictions.
