The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), conducted a significant job fair in New Delhi on December 23, 2025, with the objective of generating employment opportunities for IGNOU students and alumni across various sectors.
The event took place at the NBCC Education Development Centre (EDC) in Ghitorni and was part of the IGNOU–CII Career Edge Academy initiative. It featured participation from numerous prominent companies, including Tata Motors, Apollo Munich Health Insurance, Axis Bank, Razorpay, Tata Play Fiber, and Ather, among others.
Officials reported a substantial turnout of IGNOU learners and alumni, including both graduates and diploma holders, who sought opportunities across a diverse array of positions. Employers provided job openings in customer service, sales, technical support, international voice processes, banking and insurance assistance, as well as software and technical process roles.
Prof. Uma Kanjilal, the vice-chancellor of IGNOU, conveyed her best wishes to both the candidates and the participating organizations. She remarked that such initiatives are crucial in inspiring learners and enhancing the collaboration between industry and academia. She also expressed her hope that similar partnerships would motivate more companies to engage in future job fairs organized by the university.
A significant draw for job seekers was the variety of positions available for both new graduates and seasoned professionals, with companies presenting competitive salary packages and flexible working hours. Some positions also included additional perks such as performance-based incentives, transportation services, insurance coverage, and support for outstation candidates, making them especially appealing to applicants from various regions.
The job drive offered candidates the chance to engage directly with various recruiters on a unified platform, allowing them to compare job roles, comprehend industry standards, and investigate career paths that align with their qualifications and experiences.
Officials indicated that the IGNOU–CII Career Edge Academy seeks to close the divide between education and employment by providing learners with skills relevant to the industry and promoting direct interaction with employers. They noted that such job drives are part of wider initiatives aimed at improving employability for students in open and distance learning by linking them to opportunities in the formal sector.
IGNOU serves a vast and varied learner population throughout the nation, and initiatives like this are anticipated to significantly enhance placement opportunities for students engaged in higher education through flexible learning methods.
