The National Testing Agency (NTA) today announced that the Common University Entrance Test, Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2023 has been cancelled for the students of Jammu and Kashmir, but for selected dates.
As per the official announcement made by the UGC Chief, M Jagadesh Kumar, the CUET UG 2023 scheduled for 21 to 25 May 2023 is cancelled in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.
The official notification stated that a total of 87,309 unique candidates have been registered from the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. “This is a phenomenal increase in the number of registered candidates as per the last year. Being sensitive to the needs of candidates and to facilitate the students of Jammu and Kashmir, the NTA is exploring the possibility of creating temporary Centres in Kashmir,” the release stated.
As of now, the NTA has announced that CUET UG 2023 will be conducted as per schedule from May 26 onwards in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, the NTA has sent an email to each candidate on their registered email id, along with the official public notice about rescheduling of the exam.

“There is a huge increase in the number of registered students from J&K and Jharkhand. Since not many centres are available in these two states in spite of our best efforts, after exhausting the centres in their respective states, they are now given in the neighbouring states,” he told indianexpress.com. He also explained that the city intimation slips were released well in advance so that students could make their travel arrangements.
However, after receiving several requests from students based in J&K, the NTA has now decided to cancel May 21-25 exams of CUET UG 2023, and reschedule it for later dates.
Additionally, the NTA has also decided to postpone the CUET UG 2023 exam in Manipur. After reviewing the law and order situation in Manipur, the NTA announced that the CUET exam will now be conducted from May 29 onwards. A total of 3697 candidates are appearing for CUET UG 2023 from Manipur. NTA contacted the candidates via telephone and asked for their preferred city. Some candidates opted for other cities, the option for a change of centre for candidates from Manipur is still available.
