The Supreme Court has given a nod to the National Medical Commission (NMC) for extending the deadline for concluding the admission process for postgraduate medical courses as a one-time measure. The last date for granting admission for PG medical courses for the academic year 2023-2024 has been extended till October 10.
A bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala, and Justice Manoj Misra heard the matter today. The order read, “In the facts and circumstances which have been narrated in the application, particularly the delays which took place in the previous schedule on account of the onset of Covid-19, a one-time extension is granted until 10 October 2023 as proposed by the Director of Health Services.”
The NEET PG counselling 2023 for MD, MDS, PG medical course admission 2023 is ongoing. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has delayed the NEET PG 2023 round 2 registration by a day. As per the schedule announced earlier, NEET PG round 2 was slated to begin from August 17, however, the registration process will start from August 18 at mcc.nic.in.
The MCC will be conducting a total of four rounds of NEET PG counselling 2023 for admission against the AIQ seats. NEET PG round 3 counselling process will begin from September 7 and will conclude on September 27. And, the NEET PG stray round will conclude on October 10.
As per the draft postgraduate medical education regulations, the last date for admission and/or joining will not be extended after August 31 under any circumstances for PG super speciality courses. The admission deadline for MD, MS courses will be May 31, it said.
