The National Testing Agency (NTA) has started the registration process of the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) December 2023. Candidates aspiring to pursue a career in higher education can fill out the UGC NET December 2023 application form on the official website at ugcnet.nta.ac.in, till October 28.
However, candidates will be able to pay the examination fee till October 29. Aspirants belonging to the unreserved category will have to pay a fee of Rs 1,150 whereas those from EWS and OBC-NCL will have to pay Rs 600. Students from SC, ST, and PwD categories will have to submit Rs 325.
Eligibility criteria
There is no age limit for candidates applying for assistant professor. Aspirants of unreserved categories should have secured 55% marks in a master’s degree or equivalent examination from an institution or university recognised by the UGC. Candidates belonging to SC, ST, PwD and OBC-NCL categories should have a master’s degree with 50% marks.
Students who have a PhD degree and completed their master’s level examination will be awarded 5% relaxation in aggregate marks. Candidates who have completed their final year of master’s exam or those who are waiting for their results can also apply for the exam. However, candidates have to pass their master’s degree to be considered eligible for the award of Junior Research Fellowship/Eligibility for Assistant Professor.
