The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) announced the Civil Services Preliminary examination results for 2024 online. Aspirants who appeared for the exam can check their results on the official websites at upsc.gov.in and, upsconline.nic.in.
This year, the CSE prelims exam was held on June 16 in two shifts, i.e GS paper 1 in the morning shift starting from 9.30 am and for GS paper 2 beginning at 2.30 pm. As per the expert, this year’s UPSC preliminary exam was easier than the previous year’s exam. “There were less questions of ‘pair type’, and more of ‘match the columns’ type questions”, said Deepanshu Singh, an educator and a mentor for UPSC aspirants.
The UPSC CSE preliminary exam consists of objective questions, Successful candidates securing marks above the cut-off will be only eligible to register and appear for Main exam.
The exam is held to test the eligibility of aspirants admitted into the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other Grade A and B posts in the central government and its departments. The eligibility test is conducted in three stages including prelims, mains and the interview test. The Main exam is descriptive in nature and will be preceded by an interview round to test the candidate’s personality.
