The Kejriwal government has come up with a new policy to reduce the burden of children’s school bags. This new policy of the Kejriwal government is being called the new school bag policy.
Following Kejriwal’s order, all schools in the national capital have been directed to implement this policy. The Directorate of Education (DoE) has sent letters in this regard to the school principals.
The letter described heavy school bags as a serious threat to children’s health. Why is it necessary for children? The Directorate has said in the letter that most of the schools are running in two floors or multistory buildings, where children have to climb the stairs by carrying these heavy school bags on their shoulders.
It is even more dangerous for the knees and muscles of growing children. The Union Ministry of Education last month issued a notification of the new school bag policy under the New Education Policy. What is the new school bag policy? Children of pre-primary classes should not be called to school with a single book or copy.
It is necessary for children of classes 1 and 2 to go to school with only a notebook. The school bag weight of students of classes 1 to 10 should not exceed 10 percent of the child’s weight. That is, if the weight of the child is 20 kg, then his school bag should not be more than 2 kg.
Children’s school bags are constantly checked to ensure that they are not carrying weighed bags. Students and parents should be informed about the right way school bags.
Also, students should be encouraged to keep both strap of the bag on both the shoulders, so that the weight of the bag is divided equally on the body.
In a letter sent to the schools of Timetable Design Delhi, keeping in mind the students, it has been said that ‘a maximum number of books has been fixed by the statutory institutions to take them to school everyday for various classes.
Do not ask for more books than that. The school heads and teachers should jointly design such a timetable for every class, so that students do not have to go to school everyday with many books and copies. ‘
Do not ask students for class 11th-12th for more than one notebook for every subject. Students should not be asked to come to school with any extra book or material.
