The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a reserve list for the Civil Services Examination 2023, recommending 120 additional candidates, including 88 from the General category, 5 EWS, 23 OBC, 3 SC, and 1 ST. This list is available at the official website at upsc.gov.in.
These candidates, chosen based on merit, will fill the remaining vacancies in services like IAS, IFS, and IPS, however, thirty candidates’ selection remains provisional. The UPSC announced the initial results for the 2023 Civil Services Examination on April 16, recommending 1,016 candidates for key positions.
This included 664 men and 352 women, with the top 25 comprising 10 women and 15 men. The cut-off for the EWS category is 923, 919 for OBC, 890 for SC, 891 for ST, 894 for PwBD-1, 930 for PwBD-2, 756 for PwBD-3 and 589 for PwBD-5 category candidates.
Notably, three of the top five candidates are men, while two are women. The exam aimed to fill 1,143 vacancies across various departments. A recently released reserve list now includes additional candidates ranked by merit who follow those in the main list.
The UPSC CSE exam is held in three stages — prelims, mains, and the personality test to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) Indian Police Service (IPS), and other Grade A and B posts in the central government and its departments.
