The Himachal Pradesh School Education Board has announced the postponement of examinations originally set to commence on March 4 in the snow-affected regions of remote Pangi in the Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti districts. In a notification released on March 3, the board indicated that recent heavy rainfall and snowfall in Himachal Pradesh have caused significant damage to roads and pathways in these areas, resulting in the closure of multiple routes.
Consequently, the delivery of question papers and other examination materials for the annual examinations for classes 8 through 12 has been hindered.
In light of the challenges faced by students, the school board has rescheduled the Class 12 examination, initially planned for March 4 in the impacted areas, to March 8.
Board Secretary Vishal Sharma stated that if weather conditions improve and examination materials can be delivered to the affected regions, the exams will be conducted after March 8, concurrently with the remaining examinations across the state. Revised dates for the postponed exams in Pangi and Lahaul-Spiti will be announced accordingly.
In 2025, approximately 1.95 lakh students are expected to participate in the Class 10 and 12 board examinations. The HPBoSE has increased the number of examination centers from 2,250 last year to 2,300 this year.
To maintain the integrity of the examination process, in addition to the board’s flying squads, officials at various levels will also deploy their own flying squads to deter cheating.
Officials have stated that further updates regarding rescheduled examinations will be communicated based on weather conditions and logistical considerations.
