The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) is currently running an internship program aimed at women. In a written reply to an inquiry during the Lok Sabha Monsoon session, the Ministry specified that this initiative is available to women students, scholars, social activists, and educators aged between 21 and 40 years.
As per the Ministry, the objective of the program is to acquaint participants with policies and schemes pertaining to women and children through a short-term engagement. “Interns will engage in pilot projects and micro-studies that focus on the ongoing activities of the Ministry,” it stated in its response.
The Ministry indicated that upon finishing the internship, participants are anticipated to contribute insights for policy development. These contributions may include empirical analyses, reports, or policy papers, which, as the Ministry noted, can assist in “bridging information gaps on matters related to women and children.”

Ministry of Women and Child Development Internship: Categories and Selection Process
The guidelines categorize applicants into two groups: working and non-working. The working group comprises teachers, scholars, and social activists, whereas the non-working group includes students pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate degrees.
Selection is conducted to promote regional and demographic diversity. “Interns are selected from both rural and urban backgrounds, as well as from all geographical zones, including North, South, East, West, Central, and North-East,” the Ministry stated. It also mentioned that women from non-tier-I cities and rural regions are included in the selection pool.

Each batch has a duration of two months and can host up to 20 participants.
The Ministry further clarified that selected interns may also be assigned to additional pilot projects and studies that are being conducted during their internship period.
