The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education has initiated the WBCHSE HS Exam 2026 Semester 3 on September 8, 2025. Approximately 6.6 lakh students are anticipated to participate in the WB 12th semester III examination.
Among the total candidates, 56.03 percent are girls. Students from the state board who completed semester exams in class 11 are taking the test in a similar format during their final year of schooling.
According to a report by PTI, Chiranjib Bhattacharya, the president of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education, stated that this exam marks the first evaluation of class 12 students in a semester format in the council’s history, and it will continue until August 22.
The board president also mentioned that in the new format, question papers for semesters one and three will include multiple-choice questions to encourage critical thinking and reasoning. Semesters two and four will feature SAQ (short answer questions) and DQ (development quotient) to maintain writing skills, as reported by PTI.
The WB HS semester 3 exams began on September 8 and will end on September 22, 2025. The examinations will be conducted in a single shift each day, from 10 am to 10:45 am. The exams are being held at 2016 centers throughout the state, with 122 centers classified as ‘sensitive’.
The Board has provided guidelines for candidates taking the exam. Starting this year, examinees are prohibited from bringing calculators and items such as any printed or written materials, paper kits, plastic pouches, pen drives, writing pads, log tables, electronic pens/scanners, mobile phones, Bluetooth earphones, microphones, pagers, smartwatches, cameras, goggles, meta glasses, bags or handbags, health bands, and any other electronic devices or gadgets into the examination venues or halls.
The West Bengal Class 12 semester 3 exams commenced with language papers including Bengali, English, Hindi, Nepali, Urdu, Santhali, Odia, Telugu, and Punjabi, and will conclude with Biological Science, Political Science, Costing, and Taxation.
