The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a warning to its affiliated schools regarding the distribution of counterfeit NCERT textbooks and has urged them to ensure that students utilize only authentic books acquired from authorized sources.
In an official notice dispatched to all school administrators, the Board indicated that it has received notifications about certain unauthorized vendors supplying fake or counterfeit editions of NCERT textbooks, frequently at reduced prices. According to CBSE, these books are of inferior physical quality and may include printing errors and content inaccuracies, which could jeopardize students’ educational experience.
Schools have been instructed to advise parents to purchase only genuine NCERT books from sanctioned channels. Should schools choose to obtain the books themselves, they are required to do so exclusively through sources recognized by CBSE and NCERT.
Where to acquire genuine NCERT textbooks
CBSE has identified the following authorized channels for procurement:
- NCERT Regional Production & Distribution Centres (RPDCs)
- Authorized vendors listed on the NCERT website
- NCERT Postal Supply Service via the NCERT portal
- Official NCERT Amazon storefront
Additionally, schools have been directed to disseminate the advisory to teachers, parents, and students, and to reach out to the nearest RPDC for any support needed.
The Board emphasized that strict compliance with the advisory is crucial to maintain academic integrity and to ensure that students receive accurate and dependable educational materials.
