The Directorate of Education in Delhi has released the admission timeline for entry-level classes (Nursery, KG, Class 1) for the academic year 2026-27. According to the timeline, the admission process for open seats (excluding EWS/DG/CWSN category seats) will commence on December 4, 2025. Below is the complete schedule:
The cut-off date for establishing the age limit is March 31, 2026. The heads of schools may grant age relaxation (for both upper and lower limits) of up to one month. Parents seeking age relaxation must submit a manual application to the heads or principals of the schools, as stated by the DoE.

Delhi school admission 2026-27: Age limit for different classes

The following documents may be accepted as proof of residence:
(a) Ration Card/Smart Card issued in the name of the parents (either Mother or Father, including the child’s name).
(b) Domicile certificate for the child or their parents.
(c) Voter ID Card (EPIC) belonging to either parent.
(d) Utility bills (Electricity, MTNL telephone, Water) or Passport in the name of either parent or the child.
(e) Aadhaar Card/UID card issued in the name of either parent.
The DoE has indicated that private schools are not permitted to manually process admissions for EWS/DG/CWSN free-ship category students. This will be conducted by the department through a computerized lottery system.
