IIM Bangalore has introduced a Certificate Programme in Personal Finance and Wealth Advisory (PFWA) in partnership with FPSB India, the Indian branch of the global Financial Planning Standards Board.
This programme will be delivered through IIMB’s Centre for Capital Markets and Risk Management (CCMRM) as part of its Executive Education offerings.
The initiative merges academic instruction with internationally recognized financial planning standards and has received formal accreditation from FPSB India. Currently, registrations for the programme are open, with the academic session set to commence in March 2026.
Emphasis on practical financial planning
IIM Bangalore states that the PFWA programme aims to meet the increasing demand for structured and credible training in personal finance and wealth advisory, especially as retail involvement in financial markets grows and financial products become increasingly intricate.
The curriculum integrates academic principles with hands-on experience, addressing topics such as microeconomics, business decision-making, and modern financial advisory frameworks. Participants will utilize market tools and data platforms, including Bloomberg datasets, to gain familiarity with real-world financial analysis and client advisory scenarios.
The launch event for the programme was attended by senior programme directors from IIMB, members of the Council of Financial Planners, and representatives from FPSB India. During the event, FPSB India officially announced its accreditation of the programme.
Dr. Aishwarya Krishna, Research Consultant at CCMRM, remarked that the programme has been designed to align academic rigor with the changing needs of the industry, particularly in a financial environment influenced by regulatory shifts, market fluctuations, and an increasing demand for professional guidance.
