The need of women participation in science and technology is enormous. Governments worldwide look to implement new programs that may bring more and more girl students in STEM subjects. And to encourage girls participation in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the Directorate of School Education, Jammu (DSEJ) in partnership with American India Foundation (AIF) is planning to implement Girls4Tech programme in Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts.
To begin with 100 government schools will be chosen. According to news sources some 10 000 girls will get benefit from Girls4Tech initiative. The program will not only ensure girls participation in technical education but also will help these students in finding career opportunities in best of the industry environment.
The AIF will hold online training sessions for girls, as well as provide relevant teaching-learning materials to teachers and schools. This agency works with children studying in Grades 6 to 10 and strives to create an effective and integrated STEM learning environment.
Online security is a major challenge. Often old generation parents are not able to guide budding learners about cyber threats. This initiative will also help students in learning about safety measures from cyber threats. The DSEJ is administering authority for the Girls4Tech programme.
