Israel unveils excellence fellowship program for international postdoctoral researchers

The Council for Higher Education in Israel together with the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities has introduced an excellence fellowship programme for international postdoctoral researchers. The program opens opportunities for International Post-Doctoral candidates to become of part of innovative research programs in one of the Universities of Israel.

To apply for this program a candidate must be an international applicant with a Ph.D from any recognized university or higher education institution based outside of Israel less than 4 years from the time of application.

The selected fellows will be part of many activities, like seminars, workshops, social events and day trips. A total of 20 fellowships will be granted, of these, 15 fellowships will be awarded in STEM subjects. Remaining 5 fellowships will be offered in humanities and social sciences category. The fellowships will be awarded for two years for NIS 160,000/-

The excellence fellowships will be offered to candidates who have been accepted for a postdoctoral position under the supervision of a faculty member at one of the following Israeli universities: Ariel University, Bar-Ilan University, Ben-Gurion University, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Open University of Israel, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Tel Aviv University, University of Haifa, Weizmann Institute of Science.

The last date for submission of application is February 1, 2021.The universities must submit the application before the last date is over. Also Postdoc fellows can apply directly to the host university. For such applicants the host institution will conduct an internal evaluation process and submit selected candidates to the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.

The selection committee members shall comprise of the members of the Israel Academy of Science and the Humanities, the Israel Young Academy, and leading scholars and scientists in Israeli academia. The finally selected candidates will be notified by May 2021.
