The curriculum for Class 12 HS has been modified by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE). The curriculum modifications for WB Class 12 will take effect for the 2025–2026 academic year and will only affect students who register for that year. Up to five new subjects have been added, and the Council has also updated the subject combinations it offers.
Business mathematics and basic statistics (BMBS), environmental science (EVSC), fisheries and aquaculture (FSAQ), and basic mathematics and social science (BMSS) are among the topics covered.
According to the Council, two subjects that were added in the 2023–2024 academic year—ARTI and DTSC—will be eliminated, and AIDS (Artificial Intelligence and Data Science) will be taught in all schools, regardless of whether ARTI or DTSC is already offered.
Also announced are the requirements for teachers must meet in order to be considered for the newly added disciplines.
The dates of the 2025 West Bengal Class 12 examinations are March 3–18. Bengali (A), English (A), Hindi (A), Nepali (A), Urdu, Santhali, Odia, Telugu, Gujarati, and Punjabi papers will be given on the first day of the WB 2025 Higher Secondary board exams. Exams for WB HS 2025 will take place from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Additionally, students will get an additional fifteen minutes to peruse the question paper. The WB HS 2025 exams for visual arts, music, health and physical education, and vocational subjects will last two hours (between 10 am and 12 pm), while the rest of the tests will be three hours.
English A and Bengali A, Hindi A, Nepali A, Urdu, Santhali, Odia, Telugu, or Punjabi will be the first language courses offered. On the other hand, English B, Bengali B, Hindi B, alternative English, or Nepali B will be the second language courses. The WB HS Class 12 2025–2026 exams will offer three subject combinations.
