The government of West Bengal announced that a centralized admission portal for enrolling in undergraduate courses at higher educational institutions will be inaugurated on June 17. According to a statement from the higher education department, 460 state-run and state-aided colleges affiliated with 17 universities will be part of this portal.
“Education Minister Bratya Basu is anticipated to attend the launch of the portal for the 2025-26 academic year at 2 pm on June 17,” an official stated.
The Class 12 higher secondary results from the state board were released on May 7. This year, 4,73,919 students took the WBCHSE Higher Secondary examination; of these, 4,30,286 students passed, yielding a pass percentage of 90.79 percent. In comparison, last year’s pass percentage was 90 percent. This year, the science stream achieved a pass percentage of 99.46 percent, followed by commerce at 97.52 percent, and arts at 88.25 percent.
Through the centralized admission portal, students will have the option to select multiple colleges and various subjects.
Students will benefit from the ability to automatically upgrade to a higher-ranked college of their choice after being initially admitted to one higher educational institution based on seat availability.
“For this process, they will not need to rely on any third party,” the official remarked, emphasizing that the portal will operate transparently.
Education Minister Bratya Basu previously mentioned that the launch had been postponed by a few days due to some technical work.
“If you recall, last year the online portal was opened on June 19, and the higher secondary exam results were announced on May 8. Therefore, when comparing this year’s timeline to last year’s, we are not behind schedule,” Basu informed reporters.
