The Teachers Recruitment Board (TN TRB) of Tamil Nadu is currently accepting online applications from qualified individuals for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) – Paper I and Paper II for the year 2025. The application window, which commenced on August 11, will conclude on September 8 at 5 pm. Interested candidates can register for TNTET 2025 through the official website trb.tn.gov.in.
The TET, which is administered in accordance with the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (RTE Act), is designed to validate the essential qualifications necessary for teaching positions in classes 1 to 8. There is no upper age restriction for applicants; however, candidates must be at least 18 years old as of July 1, 2025.
Following the closure of the TN TET 2025 application period, an edit option for submitted applications will be accessible from September 9 to September 11, 2025. The examination for TNTET Paper I is provisionally scheduled for November 1, while Paper II is set for November 2.
TNTET Paper I, which is aimed at teaching classes I to V, will consist of 150 multiple-choice questions, each worth 1 mark. The examination will last for three hours and will be conducted in an OMR-based format.
All sections in Paper I are mandatory. The subjects covered include child development and pedagogy, relevant to the age group of 6 to 11 years, with 30 questions for 30 marks; Language I (Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, or Urdu) with 30 questions for 30 marks; Language II (English) with 30 questions for 30 marks; mathematics with 30 questions for 30 marks; and environmental studies with 30 questions for 30 marks.
For the subjects of child development and pedagogy, mathematics, and environmental studies, candidates are required to choose the medium of the question paper as either Tamil or English.
TNTET Paper II, which is intended for teaching classes VI to VIII, will also consist of 150 multiple-choice questions, totaling 150 marks. The duration of the exam will be three hours, and it will be conducted in an OMR-based format.
