The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has released a revised 2024-25 academic calendar schedule on its website. The development comes after the Supreme Court order allowed an extension of technical institutions’ admission deadline to October 23. The notification from the website informs students that the deadline for first-year admission to technical institutions has now been extended to October 23.
Earlier, the admissions deadline for such institutions was September 15. The extension of the admissions deadline is not valid for standalone institutions offering Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) and Post Graduate Certificate in Management (PGCM) programmes. Such institutions are required to adhere to their original admission timelines, which remain unchanged.
Further, AICTE has also revised the last date of lateral admissions for second-year students in technical institutions to October 23. Previously this deadline was September 15. As per the AICTE revised calendar, the classes for first-year students of technical classes will begin from October 23.
Meanwhile, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has notified all central, state, and private universities no longer need to take prior approval from the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). As per the latest notification, universities do not require prior approval/ recommendation/ NOC from AICTE for offering Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Postgraduate diploma programmes under the disciplines of Management, Computer Application, and Travel and Tourism in ODL and/or online mode.
