About the exam
CDS SSB is completely different from normal job interviews. The process is the same for the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Officers Training Academy (OTA), Indian Navy Academy (INA), and Air Force Academy (AFA). Candidates will be called for SSB as per their cutoff marks. The cutoff for Air Force Academy (AFA), is generally high, while Officers Traning Academy (OTA) is low.
The CDS SSB is generally a five to six-day process. OTA, IMA and INA are conducted for five days and AFA is conducted for six days. The CDS SSB tests a candidate’s personality, quick thinking, decision-making skills and teamwork abilities. The final selection of candidates will be made by the board’s recommendations on basis of their performance in the SSB round.
Candidates who gave their first choice as Army (IMA/OTA) are required to register themselves online on the Recruiting Directorate’s website joinindianarmy.nic.in. This will enable them to receive call-up information for SSB interviews.
Candidates who have already registered need not register again. In case, there is any change of address, candidates are advised to promptly intimate directly to the Army Headquarters/Naval Headquarters/Air Headquarters. CDS is conducted twice a year.
