The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), which oversees the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class 10 and Indian School Certificate (ISC) Class 12 annual examinations, announced the dates for the 2025 improvement exams on June 13. The ICSE Class 10 and ISC Class 12 examinations are scheduled to commence on July 1. The comprehensive timetable can be accessed on the official website – cisce.org.
The Class 10 examinations will initiate with the English language – English paper 1 and environmental science on the first day. The ICSE Class 10 examinations will conclude on July 14.
The Class 12 examinations will commence with the mathematics, environmental science, sociology, and legal studies papers. The ISC Class 12 examinations will conclude on July 17.
In the ICSE and ISC improvement examinations, candidates will have the opportunity to enhance their marks and grades. Candidates are permitted to appear for a maximum of two subjects.
The ISC Class 12 examinations began on February 13, 2025, and concluded on April 5, 2025. The ICSE Class 10 examinations commenced on February 18 and concluded on March 27, 2025. The CISCE results for both classes were announced on April 30.
The ICSE Class 10 examination was conducted in 67 written subjects, including 20 Indian languages, 14 foreign languages, and one classical language. The ISC Class 12 examination was conducted in 47 written subjects, with 12 being Indian languages, four foreign languages, and two classical languages.
A total of 252,557 students from 2,803 schools participated in the Class 10 examinations, with 2,308 students failing to pass. Among the 1,184 students facing learning challenges such as dyslexia, 112 achieved scores exceeding 90 percent. Additionally, 13 out of 48 visually impaired candidates scored above 90 percent. The western region recorded the highest pass percentage in the Class 10 exams at 99.83 percent, followed closely by the southern region with a pass percentage of 99.73 percent. In the Class 10 exams, the pass percentage for girls was 99.45 percent, while boys had a slightly lower pass percentage of 98.64 percent.
In the ISC Class 12 examinations, there were 99,551 students from 1,460 schools, with 973 students not passing the test. Girls also outperformed boys in Class 12, with a pass percentage of 99.45 percent for girls compared to 98.64 percent for boys. Among the 257 total students with learning difficulties who took the Class 12 exams, 29 students scored above 90 percent. Furthermore, six out of 17 visually impaired candidates achieved scores above 90 percent. The southern region achieved the highest pass percentage in the Class 12 results at 99.76 percent, followed by the western region with a pass percentage of 99.72 percent.
In 2024, the CISCE has eliminated compartment exams. Instead, they have implemented a system for re-evaluating answer scripts and improvement exams for students wishing to enhance their marks within the same examination year. Students can take CISCE improvement exams in a maximum of two subjects.
