The University of Delhi has notified students enrolled in four-year undergraduate programs that they have the option to exit after completing six semesters (three years). Those who intend to submit their request will receive a 3-year degree for multi-core discipline programs or an Honours degree for single-core discipline programs, as applicable.
Students wishing to take advantage of this option can log into the University’s student portal at slc.uod.ac.in and submit their request through the online process.
In the notification, the University encouraged eligible students to thoroughly assess their academic and career objectives before making a decision and advised them to consult with their teachers and mentors to ensure informed decision-making. This initiative is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes the provision of multiple entry and exit points in higher education, thereby granting students greater autonomy over their educational journeys.
Additionally, the University announced on Tuesday that it will offer a special examination opportunity for students who missed their semester exams in May 2025 due to disruptions caused during Operation Sindoor.
In an official statement released on July 1, Professor Gurpreet Singh Tuteja, Controller of Examinations, indicated that affected undergraduate and postgraduate students from the 2024–25 academic year may reappear for their missed exams. The exams were initially scheduled for May 13, 14, and 15.
“All concerned students are hereby informed that the deadline to submit the Google Form for the special examinations is July 10, 2025 (Thursday), by 11:59 pm,” the university stated in its notification.
The university has clarified that this provision is exclusively for students who were unable to attend their exams on the specified dates due to circumstances related to Operation Sindoor. Applicants must provide valid documentary evidence demonstrating their inability to reach Delhi.
