The University of Delhi (DU) on Sunday announced the second seat allotment result against the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS). The candidates will have to accept the seats by August 27 (4.59 pm) and pay the fees by August 30 (4.59 pm).
As many as 24,869 new allocations were made in round 2 and 27,555 candidates got a higher preference in round 2 through their choice of upgrade. Only those candidates who will make the payment will be able to opt for “Upgrade” for the subsequent round. As per the DU, a total of 65,775 seats have been confirmed against round 1 of the total 71,600 seats. As many as 43,065 candidates had opted for an upgrade and 20,829 candidates opted for freezing.
In the second round, DU will do extra allocations to fill the seats optimally so that the academic session may start on August 29, a university statement said. All candidates who were rejected in Round I due to invalid certificates or document have been reconsidered in the UR category as per their merit and preference, subject to the availability of seats in the second round.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) this year has released the raw scores instead of the normalized scores for CUET UG. To resolve the tie between the candidates with the same merit scores for programme and college combination, Delhi University will apply a tie-breaking policy in this order –
1. The candidate who has a higher percentage of aggregated marks in his top three subjects of Class 12 will be given preference.
2. The candidate with a higher percentage of aggregate marks in the best four subjects of Class 12 will be given preference.
3. The higher percentage of aggregate marks of the best five subjects of the candidates will be taken into account.
4. After this, the candidate who has an earlier date of birth according to the class 10 marksheet will be given preference.
5. The last option is the alphabetical order of the names of the candidates.
A total of 97,387 students were allocated seats in the first round of allocation. The Delhi University has decided to fill extra seats in the first allocation so that they can begin with the academic session on August 29. The allocation did not include the admission to performance based programes and supernumerary quotas for CW, ECA, sports and ward, and christian candidature.
According to the records of the university, 2,45,287 candidates applied for the Phase I of the Common Set Allocation System CSAS UG but only 1,85,543 candidates submitted their programme and college preference combination in the Phase – II of CSAS. The university received 1,72,18,187 preferences in total by the students this year.
