Goad board has decided not to postpone or cancel the examinations, despite other states specifically seeking to follow the precedent set by the neighboring state of Maharashtra. Speaking to the media, Board President Bhagirath Shetty said that instead, the board would ensure that the students are adequately excluded and all other COVID-19 protocols are followed.
As of now, the Goa Board 12th examinations will be held from 24 April. There has been no change. Each examination center will have a thermal scanner, social disturbances will be implemented, face masks are mandatory. Only 12 students will be allowed per exam hall. If it is a large hall for 17 students then it will be allowed.
The Goa Board exam for the 10th and 12th is going to be held from April 24 to May 17, while the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations will be held from May 19 to June 2. A total of 43,547 students have registered to appear in both exams, which will be held at more than 100 centers across Goa.
“It is very unfortunate that the Chief Minister wants to take 10th and 12th board exams in Goa instead of putting in COVID management, patients are struggling to get admitted, beds are full, patients are sleeping on the floor in GMC, ”said the president of Naushad Chaudhary NSUI.
The president also added that, in this situation, the CM should first focus and work on the management of COVID and make sure that this situation comes under control and once the COVID-19 number comes down, think about conducting the board examination. Should and if the CM still wants to get away from these boards, after the examination, he should do this exam in online mode and not in offline mode.
The Goa board, however, has said that under quarantine all students will be allowed to answer the exam at a separate center.
