Gujarat government has decided to cancel all the University Exams 2021 for Undergraduate courses. The decision to cancel exams was taken due to the Covid-19 surge in the country. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has declared to cancel the University exams for UG courses and promote the students without examination.
The CM also granted merit-based progression to over 9.5 lakh students of 2nd, 4th, and 6th semesters in Gujarat universities, except for those in medical and paramedical programs.
The Gujarat CMO took their official Twitter to handle to make the announcement. The tweet reads, “In a major relief for over 9.50 lakh undergraduate college students, CM Shri @vijayrupanibjp decides to grant Merit-Based Progression to the 2nd, 4th & 6th semester students, other than medial-para medical courses, of all the Govt and Pvt colleges/universities of the State.”

The statement of Gujarat CM states, “In a major relief for 9.50 lakh undergraduate college students, CM Shri Vijay Rupani decides to grant merit-based progression to the 2nd 4th and 6th-semester students, other than medical, para-medical courses of all the government and private colleges universities of the state.”
The state government had already announced the promotion of students of classes 9 to 11 without exams this year due to the pandemic. As per the guidelines issued by the Gujarat Board, the school principals can award more than 10 marks as grade marks to Class 9 and 11 students.
