Indira Gandhi National Open University’s (IGNOU) School of Interdisciplinary and Trans-Disciplinary Studies has launched a new program called Master of Arts in Folklore and Culture Studies (MAFCS) from the January 2021 session. As per the announcement the program is offered through open distance learning (ODL) mode.
MA in Folklore and Culture Studies primarily focuses on time, geography, space, and literature of the folklore and culture of the world in general, and of India in particular. The program aims to find out the relation between folk culture and context through various information borrowed from disciplines such as Literature, History, Sociology, Anthropology, Folklore Studies, and Culture Studies.
As pirants must note that IGNOU already offers a Postgraduate Diploma in Folklore and Culture Studies (PGDFCS) through Open Distance Learning. To apply for the exam candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline. There is no minimum percentage set by the university for candidates to be eligible for admission.
The duration of MA in Folklore and Culture Studies is 2 years and the medium of language will be English. The one-year academic fee of MA in Folklore and Culture Studies is Rs 5,400 and the registration fee is Rs 200.
