The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)’s School of Sciences has launched four new MSc programs in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. The new courses are starting from the July 2023 session. Students can apply for the new master’s courses till July 15.
The newly introduced MSc programs are – MSc Physics (MSCPH), MSc Applied Statistics (MSCAST), MSc Geography (MSCGG), and MSc Geo-informatics (MSCGI). Subhas Sarkar, minister of state for education, inaugurated the new PG programs during the 28th Professor G Ram Reddy Memorial Lecture.
The eligibility criteria for the MSc programmes are as follows:
- MSc in Applied Statistics: Graduate with BA or BSc degree in statistics or mathematics as one of the subjects from any recognised university
- MSc in Geography: Graduate in any stream
- MSc in Geoinformatics: Graduate in any of these: science, engineering, architecture, planning, computer application, information technology from a recognised university or MA in Geography from a recognised University
- MSc in Physics: Graduates with major or honors in physics, or graduates with a BSc Degree (including IGNOU BSc programme under CBCS) in physics and mathematics or with a BSc degree of IGNOU or any recognized open university with a minimum of 32 credits of physics, and mathematics as one of the subjects.
