Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi has announced a new postgraduate programme, ‘Master of Public Policy (MPP)’. As per the announcement, the programmes are going to launch from the 2021-22 academic year. Institute announced that the programme will focus on science, technology, and innovation (STI) and development. It will be offered by the school of public policy (SPP) at IIT Delhi.
“We are very excited to launch this new programme. Given its focus on science, technology, innovation (STI), and development, it is the first programme of its kind in India. We believe that it will help students understand and contribute to how STI can address developmental challenges in a better way, the importance of which cannot be overstated and will only grow over time”, said Ambuj Sagar, head, school of public policy, IIT Delhi.
IIT Delhi has launched a number of short-term and long-term programs this year. The most recent one being a three-month online course in-vehicle technology. The other programs are MTech in electric mobility and BTech engineering and computational mechanics.
The course will be open to a large range of candidates with graduate or postgraduate degrees in medicine, engineering, architecture, law, and science. “The students will have the chance to partake of the broader rich academic environment of IIT Delhi. All in all, we believe that this will be an exciting and unique learning opportunity for the students,” he added.
With an objective to supply the human resources required to build institutional capacity, the programme will focus on developing critical thinking, analytical abilities, and ethical practices among the students. It will also equip them to work on STI and public policy issues, the statement further said.

The qualifying degrees for the two-year MPP program are Bachelor’s degrees such as MBBS, BA LLB (Hon), BArch, BTech, BSc (Ag), BVSc, or equivalent; and postgraduate degrees such as MA, MSc, MPhil, Integrated MSc, MA, MTech or equivalent. candidates from various industries, academia, and government organizations will be encouraged to apply.
