How our nervous system works, precisely, how it focus, transform and process information, in short that is called Cognitive Science. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has took lead among all IITs in study of human mind behavior. The IIT Kanpur has launched Department of Cognitive Science to develop technologies of future by understanding the perception and process of human mind.
The study of cognitive science will develop human resources eligible to work in the areas like artificial intelligence, business, data analysis, government intelligence, healthcare, human performance, information processing, law, marketing, product design, and software design.
The IIT Kanpur was already conducting interdisciplinary program (IDP) in Cognitive Science on June 1, 2017. The proposal to establish a new Department of Cognitive Science was finalized after meeting of Board of Governors / BOG Members on 7 December 2020.
At present the IIT Kanpur offers three programs in Cognitive Science; UG Minor in Cognitive Science, MS Cognitive Science, Ph.D Cognitive Science.
The IIT Kanpur is a premier institute of higher education and research in Sciences, Engineering and Technology and Humanities. The institute is open for both Indian Nationals and overseas students.
