One of the premier technical institutions Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) has turned into a Covid-19 hotspot after over 71 people, including students and staff members tested positive for coronavirus. The institute has shut down its departments, centers, labs, and the library citing a spurt in coronavirus cases. Faculty and students have been asked to work from home. “All students, scholars, and project staff staying on campus are advised strictly to confine themselves to their hostel rooms and maintain social distance at all times,” a circular read. According to officials, those infected with coronavirus are progressing well.
