The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras is scheduled to hold its 57th Convocation in mixed reality mode. Nobel Laureate Dr David J Gross will be the chief guest of the event. Dr David holds chancellor’s chair of theoretical physics at the University of California. On the occasion, Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director IIT Madras will present annual report of the institute. This year convocation ceremony won’t take place in a traditional way due to COVID-19 pandemic.
The IIT Madras is Top Ranking Institution in the NIRF Ranking of Government of India. Students of Under Graduate and Post Graduate programmes will receive degrees.
Earlier, the IIT Bombay and IIT Guwahati have also held virtual convocations. Avatars of students received degrees from avatars of dignitaries the speeches were delivered via video conferencing platforms.
