The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is hosting a two-day online lunar science workshop on September 6 and 7 which would be broadcast live on ISRO’s official Facebook page and the Isro website. Chandrayaan-2 data was also released at the event which started today to engage the wisdom of the scientific community to analyse the data.
ISRO lunar science workshop details
The workshop will have six sessions two on Day 1 and four on Day 2. The lunar science workshop was inaugurated today, September 6, at 10 am by Dr Tirtha Pratim Das, Director, Science Programme Office (SPO), Indian Space Research Organisation, HQ.
The workshop lectures include those on the Chandrayaan-2 mission, tracking, operations, and data archival aspects as well. Along with the scientists from ISRO/DOS, scientists from IISER, Kolkata, IISc, Bangalore, and IIT Roorkee will also deliver lectures on lunar science.

A Public Outreach Panel Discussion involving PIs, Mission Director & ISSDC, and potential Chandrayaan-2 data users will be placed in the workshop’s concluding session.
Release of Chandrayaan-2 data
ISRO also released the data product and science documents collected by Chandrayaan-2 at the workshop today, along with the data from Chandrayaan-2 orbiter payloads. The eight payloads onboard Chandrayaan-2 are conducting scientific observations of the Moon by remote sensing and in-situ techniques.
The science data are being made available for analysis by academia and institutes, for greater participation to bring out more science from Chandrayaan-2 mission.
