The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) Thursday announced that the Common Entrance Test (CET) 2025 for admissions to professional courses, including engineering and veterinary sciences, will be held on April 16 and 17.
Sharing the details, Higher Education Minister Dr M C Sudhakar said online applications will be accepted from January 23 to February 21. This is the first time that KEA has released the dates for all professional entrance exams in a single announcement.
The KCET exams will begin with Physics and Chemistry on April 16, followed by Mathematics and Biology on April 17. Additionally, the Kannada Language Test for Horanadu and Gadinadu candidates is scheduled for April 18. The CET scores will also apply to courses such as Yoga and Naturopathy, B Pharm, Pharm D, Agricultural Science, and B Sc (Nursing).
Several reforms have been introduced this year to enhance the security and efficiency of the application process. A common application form has been introduced, allowing candidates to apply for multiple courses, including medical, dental, AYUSH, architecture, and allied health sciences, through a single form. Candidates must register online and pay the required fee to complete the process, the higher education department said.
To prevent fraudulent applications in KCET, an OTP-based login system has been implemented, requiring each candidate to register with their unique mobile number. Reservation details, such as caste, income, and 371(J) information, will be auto-verified through the system. Academic records will be fetched using the Student Achievement Tracking System (SATS) numbers, streamlining the verification process. Candidates will receive SMS notifications at every stage to stay updated.
The department also said that document verification will now take place at respective PU colleges, eliminating the need for candidates to visit Block Education Officer (BEO) offices. KEA will provide colleges with login credentials to facilitate this process. Candidates under special categories, including NCC, sports, ex-servicemen, CAPF, Scouts & Guides, and Anglo-Indian quotas, must submit their certificates in person at KEA on dates that will be announced later.
The minister also revealed the schedule for other entrance exams. The Diploma CET (DCET) for lateral entry into engineering courses will take place on May 31, with applications open from April 24 to May 10. Similarly, the Postgraduate CET (PGCET) for M E, M Tech, and M Arch programs will be held on May 31. For MBA and MCA courses, as well as M Pharm and Pharm D admissions, the entrance exams are scheduled for June 22, with applications accepted from April 24 to June 10.
