The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will release new textbooks for Class 3 by the last week of April and those for Class 6 by mid-May. The new textbooks will be in line with changes recommended in the National Curriculum Framework School Education (NCF-SE) 2024.
NCERT has also uploaded a bridge course for teachers on its official website ncert.nic.in, with the help of which they can get acquainted with the new textbooks of Class 6. It has also come up with guidelines for Class 3 to facilitate a seamless transition for students to the new pedagogical practices.
The council has disbursed 1.21 core copies of the 2023-2024 editions of textbooks for Classes 1, 2, 7, 8, 10 and 12. “The additional quantity of books for these classes will be made available regularly,” NCERT said.
The NCERT has also released a buffer stock of 27.58 lakh books for Classes 4, 5, 9 and 11. As per the new print order, 1.03 crore textbooks of Classes 4, 5, 9, and 11 will be available by May 31. The textbooks are also available in digital format on the NCERT portal as well as PM eVidya and the National Digital Library. The digital copies can be downloaded free of cost.
CBSE director (Academics) Joseph Emmanuel has directed schools to follow new textbooks for Classes 3 and 6.”Consequently, schools are advised to follow these new syllabi and textbooks for classes 3 and 6 in place of textbooks published by NCERT till the year 2023,” he said.
