The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi has initiated the refund process of the National Exit Test (NExT) mock exam registration fees. he AIIMS, which was conducting the test, said the registration fee will be refunded in due course of time in the bank account from which payment was made.
Saying that the NExT mock exam registration fee will be refunded in due course of time, the institute in a statement said: “The refund process of registration fees of candidates who have registered and paid fees for the Mock/ Practice National Exit Test (NExT) has been initiated, and the registration fee will be refunded in due course of time in the respective account from which payment was made.”
The mock NExT was scheduled to be held on July 28 in two steps. The NExT step 1 was to be a computer-based examination while NExT step 2 would have been a practical/clinical examination.
As per the AIIMS notification, candidates belonging to general and OBC categories had paid Rs 2,000 as a registration fee while those belonging to SC, ST, and EWS categories had paid Rs 1,000. No fee was applicable to the persons with benchmark disabilities for the examination.
As per the NMC Act, the National Exit Test will serve as a common basis for qualifying for the final-year MBBS exam, merit for admission to postgraduate courses, a licentiate exam to practice modern medicine, and a screening exam for foreign medical graduates who want to practise in India.
The NExT is expected to be held next year for the 2019 batch of final-year MBBS students. The NExT Step 1 is likely to be held in February next year. After clearing the NExT Step 1, the students have to do an internship of one year, following which the NExT Step 2 will be held.
