Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed all the youngsters via videoconferencing today. Modi said that an ecosystem is being developed to nurture the talent of youth in the country. He was addressing the valedictory function of the second National Youth Parliament Festival.
PM Modi urged Indian youth to join politics and said: “Earlier there was a perception in the country that if a young man turned to politics, the householders used to say that the child is going astray.
Because the meaning of politics had become to quarrel, trouble, plunder, and become corrupt. People used to say that everything can change but politics cannot change.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla talked about strengthening the youth of India. LS Speaker said, “We have decided to run ‘Know Your Constitution’ campaign through the state governments in the entire country. This will surely help the nation get to know about the constitution in a better way.”
PM said such people did not fear the law. The next 25-26 years would take India from 75 years of Independence in 2022 to 100 years in 2047 and the same period would be the golden years of the lives of young people today. He appealed to them to keep the country’s interest in mind in whatever they did. Politics, like every field, also needed the participation of the youth.
Mr. Modi also remembered the contribution of Swami Vivekananda, whose birth anniversary was celebrated on Tuesday, and appealed to the youth to take inspiration from him. He has spoken about the involvement of youth in politics earlier as well.
He also added that “Today, days of winning the election by the crutches of a surname are over. Still, this malaise of dynastic politics is far from over…the political dynasty promotes self and family instead of pushing nation first. This is a major cause of social corruption in India.”
