The Shiv Nadar University, Chennai is established by Shiv Nadar Foundation. The State Assembly of Government of Tamil Nadu has passed the bill to establish this university. The admission will start in April 2021 with specialized courses in Commerce and Engineering. Starting academic session 2022-23 Under Graduate program in Business Management will commence. And in the next 5 years there are plans to establish a School of Law.
The Shiv Nadar Foundation is an initiative of HCL formed by Shiv Nadar.
Mr. R. SRINIVASAN, the Co-Founder of Redington (India) Limited is the Chancellor of the University. Dr. Kala Vijayakumar is the Pro-Chancellor of the University. Dr. Kala is a university rank holder and has a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the Stella Maris College, Madras University. She holds a Doctorate in Education from the University of Liverpool. Her research focuses on bridging economic inequality in India by making higher education accessible to rural, first generation learners.
In coming academic session Shiv Nadar University, Chennai will offer B.Tech CSE (IoT), B.Tech AI & DS, B.Com and B.Com (Professional Accounting). The official website quotes “We follow a rigorous process of admission. There are various criteria and board marks are one of them. All admissions are totally on a merit basis.”
The Shiv Nadar University, Chennai is founded by an act of state legislation and is UGC approved, under section 2(f) of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.
