The University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi has extended the deadline for submission of thesis for the M.Phil and Ph.D final-term candidates. The extended last date for submission of final-term M.Phil and Ph.D program thesis is 30 June 2021. This has been done keeping in view the crisis caused by Covid-19 pandemic.
“Due to COVID-19 pandemic, universities have remained closed for the past several months. Therefore, the students have not been able to conduct their research or experiments in university laboratories nor they were able to access library services that are critical for completion of the thesis,” the University Grants Commission has said.
The tenure of fellowship will be 5 years for the M.Phil and Ph.D programs. The extension of 6 month for the submission of M.Phil and Ph.D programs thesis can be given so candidates can submit publications and presentations in two conferences.
The last date for Open Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Programs Admission September/October Session 2020-21 has also been extended till December 31, 2020. Earlier the deadline was 30 November. The extension in last date will help many ODL aspirants who were unable to submit application before November deadline. The Institutes of Higher Education are directed by UGC to take a note of changes in deadline/last date and upload the admission dates on UGC DEB official website before 15 January 2021.
