The University Grants Commission has extended the date for submission of thesis for terminal MPhil and Ph.D. This extension of six months may also be granted for submitting evidence of publication and presentation in two conferences. However, the tenure of the fellowship will remain up to five years only.
“The universities may grant further extension of six months from December 31, 2021 ( till June 30, 2022), for submission of the thesis by MPhil and PhD. students,“ says the public notice released by UGC. This decision is taken regarding the continuation of a UGC public notice dated March 16, 2021.
UGC had extended the deadline twice before regarding the same due to COVID-19, keeping in view the larger interest of the research scholars. This UGC extension provided for submission of MPhil and Ph.D. thesis till June 2022 shall apply to all students whose due date of submission of MPhil and Ph.D. thesis is on or before June 30, 2022.
In another recently released press release, the UGC had said that the Common Entrance Test (CET) for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in central universities may be conducted from the academic session 2022-2023 through the National Testing Agency (NTA). The UGC has also said that for admission in the Ph.D. program NET score shall be used, wherever feasible.
