The West Bengal Govt has cancelled the board exam for classes 10 and 12 this year in view of pandemic. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced the decision at the state secretariat a short while ago. She said that the government has asked for suggestions from common people, students, parents and sector experts yesterday.
The government has received over 34 thousand emails and more than 80 per cent has opined against conducting the exams this year. The expert committee formed earlier has been asked to submit its report on the process of evaluation within a week.
Puducherry Chief Minister Rangasamy also declared today that the plus-two Board examinations are cancelled in view of the ongoing pandemic situation in the Union Territory. AIR Correspondent reports, Chief Minister Rengasamy said in a release that the examinations slated for Puducherry and Karaikal regions have been cancelled. A total of 14,674 students of Puducherry and Karaikal were to take the examination, he added.
The announcement came days after the Tamil Nadu government decided to cancel the examinations in view of the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Puducherry does not have a separate Board for higher secondary education and follows the education pattern adopted in Tamil Nadu.
