The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the application schedule and updated fee structure for the verification of marks, obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer books, and the re-evaluation of answers for the Class 12 Examinations 2026.

Students who wish to challenge their initial evaluation or request a formal review of their performance can register their requests through the official portal.

Key Timeline and Deadlines

The post-result review mechanism operates on a strict timeline divided into three sequential phases. Candidates must note that missing a deadline for an early phase may disqualify them from participating in subsequent verification steps.

Revised Fee Structure

In a student-friendly move for the 2026 academic session, the Board has significantly reduced the processing fees across multiple categories. Additionally, CBSE has confirmed that processing fees will be fully refunded if a candidate’s marks increase following the re-evaluation process.

• Scanned Copy of Answer Books: Reduced from Rs 700 per answer book to Rs 100 per answer book.
• Verification of Marks: Revised from Rs 50 to Rs 100 per subject.
• Re-evaluation Fee: Reduced from Rs 100 per question to Rs 25 per question.

Strict Mode of Application and Payment

To maintain transparency and efficiency, CBSE will process all applications strictly under the following parameters:

1. Mandatory Online Registration: Every stage of the application—from submitting requests to downloading documents—must be completed entirely online via the official website: cbse.gov.in. No physical or offline applications submitted directly to schools or regional centers will be entertained.
2. Authorized Payment Gateways: Processing charges must be deposited online using valid Credit Cards, Debit Cards, or Net Banking facilities.
3. Prohibited Payment Modes: The Board will summarily reject applications accompanied by offline instruments, including Postal Orders, Demand Drafts (DD), Money Orders, Cheques, or cash.

Formal Procedure for Re-evaluation

Before initiating a re-evaluation request for specific answers, candidates are advised to follow the official protocol:

• Review the Marking Scheme: Candidates must consult the official subject-wise marking scheme and question papers, which are made accessible directly on the CBSE portal.
• Submit Reasoned Objections: When challenging the marks awarded to a particular question, candidates must provide clear, objective reasoning aligned with the published marking guidelines.
• Finality of Decisions: The outcome derived from the final re-evaluation process is legally binding. The Board will not entertain any further appeals, reviews, or correspondence regarding the finalized scores.
