The Department of Posts, Government of India, has officially released the India Post Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) 3rd Merit List (Supplementary List – III) for the 2026 recruitment cycle. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 28,636 vacancies across the country for positions including Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS), Branch Postmaster (BPM), and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM).
The newly published third list shortlists a total of 6,690 candidates who did not find a place in the initial two admission rounds.
Recruitment and Selection Parameters
The selection framework for India Post GDS positions is purely objective, skipping any formal written examinations or viva-voce rounds.
- Selection Methodology: The selection process is entirely automated and system-generated based on academic merit.
- Evaluation Criteria: Ranking is calculated using the aggregate percentage of marks obtained in the Class 10 (Secondary School Examination) standard from recognized education boards. Final scores are mapped with an accuracy of up to four decimal places.
- Conditional Allotment: Final selection remains highly provisional and is entirely subject to the successful physical verification of the candidate’s original academic and personal documents.

Shortlisted candidates are allotted a strict, non-extendable window to present their credentials for validation.
