Comprehensive 5-Stage Selection Architecture
Securing an appointment as an Assistant Loco Pilot depends entirely on passing a rigorous, merit-based selection matrix consisting of five consecutive elimination checkpoints.
Stage 1: First Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT-1)
- Format: Screening and qualifying round consisting of 75 objective-type multiple-choice questions.
- Duration: 60 Minutes.
- Core Curriculum: Mathematics, Mental Ability/Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness.
- Negative Marking: One-third (1/3) mark will be deducted for each incorrect response.
Stage 2: Second Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT-2)
- Structure: Comprises two distinct sections completed in a single session lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes.
- Part-A (100 Questions): Evaluates core conceptual competence across Mathematics, General Intelligence, Reasoning, and Basic Science & Engineering. This section serves as the primary metric for generating final merit lists.
- Part-B (75 Questions): Trade-specific technical testing based on the candidate’s engineering choice. Candidates must achieve a mandatory minimum qualifying score of 35% in Part-B to keep their eligibility.
Stage 3: Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Objective: Psychological and psychometric evaluation. Candidates must score a minimum T-score of 42 marks in each specific test battery without exception.
- Final Merit Weightage: The final recruitment rank is calculated by combining 70% weightage from CBT-2 Part-A marks with 30% weightage from the CBAT score.
Stage 4: Document Verification (DV)
- Protocol: Candidates matching the final merit cut-offs are called to present their complete set of original academic sheets, technical diplomas, identity cards, and category certificates for thorough administrative validation.
Stage 5: Medical Examination (ME)
- Requirement: Candidates must successfully pass the prescribed A1 Medical Standard examination. This requires rigorous vision testing, including distant and near vision accuracy without glasses, along with normal color perception, binocular vision, field of vision, and night vision capabilities.
