The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) started new certificate programme in gender, agriculture and sustainable development. The course will be delivered via open and distance mode. The programme duration is 6 months. Candidates with a Bachelor degree can apply. Last date for submission of online application is March 15, 2021.
The purpose of the IGNOU’s certificate programme in gender, agriculture and sustainable development is to make awareness about gender roles and typology of issues in sustainable agriculture, knowledge on sustainable development with respect to gender and agriculture and thus figure out possibilities in gender research in agriculture. Dr. G Uma is course coordinator.
“Women and men are affected differently by economic change and development, and thus an active public policy is needed to intervene to close gender gaps. In this context, agriculture needs to look towards sustainability in its planning and policy process and the women’s contribution to sustainable agricultural development,” quotes an IGNOU release.
