The Times Higher Education (THE) has published today Emerging Economies University Ranking 2021. This year 606 universities qualify for the ranking which is 14% higher from THE Emerging Economies University Ranking 2020.
The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata makes major gains at (=155th) in the ranking table. And the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore find place at (=14th) rank and thus gained top 15 position in the ranking table.
” Universities from secondary emerging economies are leading the way in 2021. Of the 258 that ranked last year, 55% improved or maintained their previous ranking positions (53% of 206 universities from advanced emerging countries or regions did the same). This was heavily driven by institutions from Pakistan (77%), China (77%), and Russia (54%) improving or maintaining on last year’s performance. Furthermore, China and Russia dominate the top 100, as they both hold 47 positions between them. China also becomes the first country or region to secure all of the top 5 positions in the ranking, after both Fudan University (4th) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (5th) move up in the table “, quotes official THE release.
