MUMBAI — The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has officially released the schedule for the Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED) 2027 and the Common Entrance Exam for Design (CEED) 2027. Both premium design entrance tests are slated to take place across the nation on January 17, 2027.
According to institutional reports, both nationwide examinations will be administered in a single daily shift.
Institutional Scope & Scope of Marks
- UCEED 2027: Qualifies candidates for admission into Bachelor of Design (BDes) programs across select premium institutions, including IIT Bombay, IIT Roorkee, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati, and IIITDM Jabalpur.
- CEED 2027: Serves as the primary screening gateway for admissions to Master of Design (MDes) postgraduate programs and various PhD design courses at participating IITs.
Beyond the core IIT system, scores generated from both UCEED and CEED are utilized and recognized for admissions processes by an extensive network of affiliate private and public design institutes across India.
Examination Formats & Evaluation Structures
Both entrance examinations are strictly structured into three-hour tests consisting of two distinct, compulsory segments:
- UCEED Structure (300 Marks Total):
- Part A: Evaluated out of 200 marks.
- Part B: Evaluated out of 100 marks.
- CEED Structure (250 Marks Total):
- Consists of Part A and Part B. Notably, the subjective and drawing evaluation of Part B will strictly be examined only for candidates who successfully clear the foundational cut-off marks specified for Part A.
Registration Timeline & Guidelines
While the central examination day is locked for January 17, 2027, the complete registration timeline and detailed information brochures are scheduled to be published by October 2026.
