IIT Delhi has announced that admission to PhD, MTech, and MS research courses can be pursued on either a part-time or full-time basis, subject to seat availability. For sponsored or part-time candidates, the information brochure provides details regarding the minimum full-time experience required as of the registration date following the qualifying degree.
- MDesign is a full-time course spanning four semesters, focusing on Industrial Design.
- MSc programs are also offered as four-semester full.

- MA (Master of Arts): A full-time program also consisting of four semesters.
To qualify for admission to the PhD, MTech, MS research, MDesign, and MPP programs at IIT Delhi, candidates must possess a minimum CGPA of 6.0 for general, OBC, and EWS categories (5.50 for SC, ST, and PwD) on a 10-point scale, or equivalent marks (60 percent for general, 55 percent for SC, ST, and PwD) calculated from the aggregate of all years or semesters of the qualifying degree.
IIT Delhi offers a CGPA relaxation of 0.5 (5 percent) for applicants holding an MA Degree in English seeking admission to the PhD program in Humanities and Social Sciences.
For full-time PhD, MTech, and MS(R) programs, candidates are required to present a valid GATE or national exam score. Those applying for the MDes program must submit a valid CEED score.
For MSc and MA programs, a CGPA of 5.5 is required (5.0 for SC/ST/PwD) or equivalent marks. The GATE or national exam score requirement is exempted for graduates or students from Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs). Applications for IIT Delhi’s PG and PhD admissions must be submitted online. The application fee is ₹200 for candidates from general, OBC, and EWS categories, while it is ₹50 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
