The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi will start teaching of a new Master of Technology (M.Tech) programme in Electric Mobility from this academic session 2021-22. This Post Graduate (PG) Programme will be delivered by the Centre for Automotive Research and Tribology (CART) of IIT Delhi.
The candidates with a valid GATE score and BE/B.Tech or equivalent degree in electrical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, production engineering, mechatronics, automobile, manufacturing science/engineering will be eligible to apply for M.Tech in Electric Mobility program. Also, sponsored candidates from various industries/academia/government organisations can apply.
The M.Tech Program in Electric Mobility will focus on areas like electric vehicles, drivetrain, chargers and charging infrastructure, battery energy storage systems, battery management system, reusability of energy storage elements, reliability, automotive health monitoring, automotive NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness), vehicle dynamics, autonomous and connected vehicles, vehicular telematics, and materials for an electric vehicle, along with hands-on practice and design in laboratories.
The official website quotes; “CART, (formerly known as ITMMEC) has been established in May 2019 with a vision to promote interdisciplinary research in Electric Vehicle (EV) and related areas.”
BK Panigrahi, Head, CART said, “The new course has been designed with the active participation of leading professionals from academia and industry. The students will be exposed to work on various simulation software and HIL platforms.”
The M.Tech Graduates in Electric Mobility can expect job opportunities in industries related to electric vehicle OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer), automotive industry, battery (pack and module) manufacturing units; BMS industry (smart and cloud-based BMS); e-motor design and manufacturing industry; converter and inverter industry; and EV chargers industry.
