Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has expanded its academic offerings to meet the demands of the growing industry by adding new courses in geoinformatics and psychology.
In addition to history, political science, and sociology, the five-year BA-MA Liberal Arts Program at GGSIPU’s School of Liberal Arts now includes psychology as a fourth major discipline. Under the National Education Policy (NEP), this multidisciplinary program seeks to equip students with the information and abilities necessary to evaluate human behaviour and mental processes.
Understanding psychology is essential for tackling societal issues pertaining to mental health and well-being in a time of swift social change. Students will acquire all-encompassing problem-solving abilities by combining psychology with other academic fields, empowering them to address intricate social, political, economic, and cultural challenges.
A two-year postgraduate program in Applied Geoinformatics has also been introduced by the University School of Environment Management (USEM) at GGSIPU, and it will begin in the 2025–2026 academic year. In addition to merit in the qualifying test, admission to this program will be determined by the results of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) and the Common Entrance Test (CET), which is administered by the university.
The Applied Geoinformatics program requires applicants to have a bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or geography with at least 50% of the possible points overall for general category students and 45% for SC/ST candidates.
Additionally, USEM has started the admissions process for its Environmental Science Bachelor of Science degree. Admission will be determined by the CUET and CET results as well as the candidate’s performance on the qualifying exam. For general category students, the eligibility requirements are 10+2 (science) with at least 50% of the possible points overall, while for SC/ST applicants, the minimum score is 45%.
